Anton Bello is a versatile electric and double bass player born

in Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 1977.

 

He studied at the Conservatory of Santiago, the modern

music school Estudio Escola de Musica and in

Seminario Permanente de Jazz de Pontevedra with teachers

such as Abe Rabade and Paco Charlin,

the latter being also his bass teacher during the last years

of study.

 

Anton has attended master classes with the following teachers:

 

Carlos Barreto, Nuno Ferreira, Joao Moreira, Rainald Colon,

Dani Perez, Pablo Martin, Ramon Cardo, Antonio Serrano,

Juanma Barroso, Perico Sambeat, Felipe Melo, Derek Nievergelt,

Ulf Radelius, Mikel Andueza, Voro Garcia, Arturo Serra,

Marc Aiza,Roman Filiu, Damian Cabaut, Ramon Angel Rey,

Orrin Evans, Walter Smith III, Ambrose Akinmusire and others.

 

As outstanding student has the privilege to play and recording

with musicians like Bobby Martinez,

Logan Richardson,Marc Ayza and Arturo Serra,

performing at the Jazz no Principal festival.

 

Being an open-minded bassist, his capacity to adapt has enabled

him to work with musicians from many different genres.

He has been part of the following bands, among others:

Mr Dixie Jazz Band, Casual Jazz,Califa Swing, Bamba bossa trio, Celia Mur,Afrofunk group, iyá Latin Jazz group, Sojazz Quintet,

Tropico no Palco,Adrian Solla Trio,Botazz muppets and jazz music show,

F.A.R Trio, ,Tangazz,  Dixieland Syndicate, Hot tresss.

- not forgetting rock and pop projects like Caleidoscipio,

Lou Reyes y los Astros, Martin Sanchez (rock crooner)

or world music projects such as Driade, Pe de Boi or

Ophiusa with whom he recorded two albums and played in many festivals, also representing Galicia at the Lorient Interceltic Festival 2012.

 

From 2012 to 2014 he lived in Amsterdam where he played with Sergio Chiricosta quintet, Andrea La Gatta Trio and other bands while also studying with his mentor Thomas Kwaakernaat and in the jazz & pop department at the Utrecht Conservatory.

 

In May 2014 Anton Bello moved to Taiwan, where he currently resides, playing with the resident jazz band of the Mirage Hotel in Taichung city.

With this band he also performed at the 2014 Taichung Jazz Festival.

 

He has a 10-year experience with several types of commercial projects: playing five-star hotels and in dance music bands, among other ventures. In addition to being an experienced band leader, producer and composer, Anton has also acted as a manager and music event organizer.

 

At the Musikartis music school in Spain he was an electric bass and combo teacher, also giving private lessons, school didactic concerts, and organized workshops.
